Half of electricity is from clean energy. How can Denmark do that?

Recently, the Danish investment promotion agency, together with state of green and wind Denmark, held a cloud sharing meeting. The participants elaborated from three dimensions: the green transformation of Denmark, the current situation and future of wind power in Denmark, and the value chain and opportunities of wind power in Denmark. They announced that this year they would increase efforts to "attract technology intensive and knowledge-based green investment" and open up the green investment market to the world. At the same time, they answered questions from the participating media.

At the meeting, the reporter learned that Denmark has a high utilization rate of clean energy. In 2019, 50% of Denmark's electricity consumption comes from new energy sources. Among them, wind energy accounts for 46.9% of the total electricity consumption, and solar energy accounts for 3.1%. At present, this proportion of energy consumption is still increasing year by year.

According to the Danish energy agency, by 2028, Denmark's green energy production will exceed Denmark's total electricity consumption. At present, Denmark has a population of less than 6 million, and the total installed capacity of wind power generation ranks the top in the world. It is a veritable world power of wind power generation and wind turbine production.

Denmark has achieved good results in sustainable energy development

Denmark's green report card today is inseparable from 40 years of continuous efforts. In the early 1970s, Denmark was still a big oil importer - 99% of the country's oil needed to be imported, which directly led to the first world oil crisis. Although the Danish government has introduced a series of short-term measures to deal with the oil crisis, such as banning cars on Sunday and reducing the use of street lights. However, the crisis has made Denmark realize that energy development must follow a long-term sustainable path. To ensure the security of national energy supply and improve energy efficiency, it is the right way to find appropriate energy substitution.

Since then, half a century of exploration has been carried out in an orderly manner. In 1971, Denmark established the world's first Ministry of environment; in 1976, Denmark introduced its first national energy plan, In 1985, the Danish Parliament rejected the proposal to develop nuclear energy, which created a golden opportunity for the development of wind power. In 1991, Denmark became the first country to build a commercial offshore wind farm. In 1997, Denmark successfully produced oil, natural gas and renewable energy Energy self-sufficiency has been achieved - at this time, renewable energy has accounted for 18% of the total energy consumption.

Denmark, which has achieved periodic results, has put forward a more ambitious plan. In 2012, the Danish Parliament passed the energy agreement, announcing that by 2050, Denmark will completely get rid of its dependence on fossil fuels; in 2018, it also adopted the new energy agreement, which promised to achieve 55% of the total energy consumption of renewable energy and 100% use of renewable energy in the power system by 2030.

Continue to expand the share of wind energy in renewable energy

In terms of international cooperation, the Danish government has also actively fulfilled its green commitment. In November 2019, Danish Prime Minister mett frazerikson announced that the government and 13 business representatives had formally established a "Climate Partnership" to jointly address climate challenges; in December, the Danish Parliament passed the world's first climate bill, promising that Denmark would achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 on the basis of 1990. To achieve this goal, Denmark must continue to expand its share of renewable energy.

Denmark is the undisputed leader in the global wind power industry, with more than 30000 employees, accounting for 0.5% of the total Danish population. Five of the world's top ten turbine manufacturers are in Denmark, and one of every three turbines in the world is made in Denmark. Denmark's wind power industry chain is actively involved in most of the world's offshore wind farm projects. The competitive and international wind power companies, the world's leading test facilities, simple market access, rich industry experience and unique understanding of the market all make Denmark a step ahead.

Horn Rev 3, the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark and the largest offshore wind farm in Scandinavia, has been officially put into operation in August 2019 with an installed capacity of 406mw, which can meet the annual power consumption of 425000 Danish households. The production of this wind farm has increased Denmark's wind power by 12%, and further laid the position of wind energy in Denmark's green transformation. The installed capacity of Danish offshore wind power is now 1.7 GW, which will reach 2.6 GW by 2021 and 7 GW by 2030. It is reported that Denmark will complete the construction of three offshore wind farms before 2030.

Denmark's climate, energy and energy efficiency minister Johansen said wind energy has become a globally competitive technology thanks to long-term political support and the efforts of entrepreneurs. This proves the feasibility of green transformation, and it is time to use the Danish experience to develop new sustainable solutions from the wind energy industry to accelerate the green transformation of the world and cope with global climate change. He also welcomed the cooperation between various institutions and Denmark, and said that as a global wind turbine business and technology development center in the field of onshore and offshore wind power, Denmark has cultivated an excellent wind power talent pool with 40 years of development, and investment in Denmark is close to the most complete wind power industry chain.

Generally speaking, Denmark is short of conventional energy such as coal, oil and natural gas, and its energy consumption is insufficient. However, the Danish government has turned its disadvantage into an advantage and has made remarkable achievements in giving full play to the advantages of wind power generation. At present, China's wind power resources rank first in the world, but the development of wind power is relatively backward. Learning from Denmark's experience and speeding up the development of wind power is undoubtedly one of the important ways to solve the problem of energy shortage in China's economic and social development.
